We understand that undertaking this sort of work on your property may raise a few questions! We've compiled a list of the most commonly asked ones below, but feel free to get in touch if you need more answers.

Which areas do you cover?

We cover all of Brighton, Hove and surrounding areas.

How do you treat damp?

We use the latest techniques and products when damp proofing. The techniques used will vary from job to job. We will carry-out an inspection of your property first to ensure that we use the correct one to fix your problem.

What’s a damp survey?

A damp survey is an in-depth visit undertaken by our team that will cover all aspects of your property. This is a comprehensive visit that may include thermal-imaging, drain inspection and a roof/chimney inspection. The fee, will be refunded with the completion of remedial works priced in the quote with the survey.

Do you undertake damp surveys following a Home-Buyers Survey?

Often a mortgage company will require a damp survey as well as an initial Home-Buyers survey. We can undertake these on behalf of your lender.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

A 30% deposit will be required on the first day of work.

Does Brighton Damp Proofing provide a guarantee?

Brighton Damp Proofers provide a 20 - year guarantee certificate upon completion of the job. We can also offer insurance backed guarantees.

What is an insurance backed guarantee?

By paying a premium, an insurance backed guarantee will ensure that whatever happens to Brighton Damp Proofers in the next twenty years, you can rest easy knowing that any work needing to be done under the guarantee will be paid for by a third-party insurer.

How do we prepare the area before damp proofing?

All rooms must be clear of furniture and ornaments in order for us to undertake the work. Brighton Damp Proofers always use protective floor covers and sheeting and take great care when undertaking our work - however we recommend that the client covers anything left in the room.

Will it be dusty?

In most forms of damp proofing the internal walls are chipped off which creates a large amount of dust. We endeavour to reduce the dust levels using a dust extraction system, sealing doors and covering as much as possible in plastic. We do clean the area thoroughly after our work has been completed, however in extreme cases we may recommend hiring cleaning company post work.

Will I need a carpenter to put skirting on afterwards?

Brighton Damp Proofers refit all skirting after the work is complete and will replace where necessary.

Will I need a plumber to refit radiators that have been removed?

Brighton Damp Proofers refit radiators so you don’t have to call a plumber! If extra plumbing is needed we have a plumber on call who can be there to provide any extra plumbing services.

Will I need an electrician to refit sockets, telephone or cable boxes?

We will refit all sockets and wall mounted boxes. We have a certified electrician on the team, saving you the cost of an electrician.

How will my property be left when you're done?

Ready for decoration. We leave the job plastered, ready to decorate! We can provide a decorator if you require.

How long will the plaster take to dry?

Generally, it will take between 1-2 weeks to dry (depending on temperature and humidity levels). Our style-of damp proofing drys quicker than traditional damp proofing methods.
